Wedding ceremony officiated by marriage celebrant with bride and groom

Marriage celebrant FAQs

It's annoying to have to contact someone to know their price, so I'll tell you - a full ceremony starts from $1,200.

$1,200 includes everything you need to get married - includes meetings to discuss your big day, a tailor made ceremony according to who you both are and what you both want, documentation (to ensure you are officially married!), rehearsal and kick-ass facilitation on the day.

The additional amount to pay would be travel (if outside of the CBD) and a registered marriage certificate.

If however you are looking for a legals only ceremony, contact me and let's discuss! I  have specific prices but it will depend on what you are looking for.

There are only 2 things that need to be included:

1. Your Legal Vows - there is a sentence you must say at some point during the ceremony:

"I call upon the people here present to witness that I (full legal name) take you (full legal name) to be my lawful wedded (wife/husband/spouse)"

2. Celebrant Monitum - a short paragraph I need to say:

"Before you are joined in marriage in my presence and in the presence of these witnesses, I am to remind you of the solemn and binding nature of the relationship into which you are now about to enter. Marriage, according to the law in Australia, is the union of two people to the exclusion of all others, voluntarily entered into for life."

I make it as simple as possible:

  1. Let's meet to chat about you, your partner, and what you want out of your special day. Lot's of laughs, a walk down memory lane, and many ideas about your ceremony to create the overall structure - it's just a lot of fun.
  2. We get the documentation sorted to make sure you will be legally married. It's a very easy process, just need some details and identify docs from you and then your signatures.
  3. I put fingers to keyboard and start writing your ceremony from scratch (I love this part).
  4. The first draft is sent for review and you tell me whether I nailed the vibe and spelt your cousin's name correctly.
  5. After the first draft, or maybe some further convos about new ideas you have for the ceremony, we agree the final draft is perfect. Then, I make a few additions to surprise you on the day.
  6. Rehearsal! I love a rehearsal, I honestly think it is a great way to get your people together and start celebrating early. Plus, it helps with nerves and makes for a smoother process on the day. Note: I do not read through the ceremony!
  7. The day arrives! and it is incredible. We laugh, we cry, and we get you married. Happily ever after.

A civil ceremony can include anything you want, the fun is that we get to create it together! Here are some key elements of a marriage ceremony:

  • Introduction and welcome (including an acknowledgement of country)
  • Your story (how you met, when you fell in love, your key milestones and the proposal)
  • Acknowledging your friends and family (reflections from those you love, acknowledging those who have passed, giving thanks to the bridal party)
  • Readings and/or rituals
  • The asking (do you take Bride to be your wife, to love and cherish, for the rest of your life?)
  • Vows
  • Ring exchange
  • Declaration of husband and wife
  • Kiss
  • Signing
  • Presentation of the official newlyweds!

There are so many cute, fun, funny, sentimental, romantic, unique ideas that we can build into your ceremony - ideas that you can share with me and ideas that I will definitely give you to pick and choose from!

No, a celebrant is not someone who completed a 3 week course online to get a certificate (that's an American thing according to movies). Instead, it takes a year long course and every year I complete additional courses to make sure I'm up-to-date with legal changes and being the best celebrant I can be.

As a celebrant, I can officiate your marriage. There are only two types of people that can - a celebrant or priest. Not only do I create a ceremony that's perfect for you both, but I also ensure all that documentation is completed so you can be officially registered as a married couple. Plus, I can help with wedding planning and inspiration and ensure that you have the best time designing your ceremony with me. Of course, on the day, I also have no issues standing up in front of 100s of people to deliver an excellent ceremony.

Pretty good value for money eh?

Of course! I can design and officiate:

  • Renewal of vows
  • Naming ceremony (the non-religious equivalent of a christening to welcome new bub into the world)
  • Funerals

I am based in Melbourne and will travel ANYWHERE. That's because I absolutely adore to travel.

Sometimes, you have someone in your life who will do an incredible job facilitating your marriage. If that's you, and you need a celebrant to complete the legals only, I'm here for you!

Legals only includes:

  • Marriage documentation
  • Assistance with the ceremony design (not writing)
  • Saying the legal words on the day
  • Witnessing your signing
  • Registering your marriage documents

The cost of a legals only wedding is $500 plus travel.

If you would like me to write it for you, there is an additional cost. Contact me for a chat :)

The best way to find your A-Team is to meet with them. Contact me, let's have a zoom chat. You should do this with as many celebrants until you find the one. Hopefully that's me, but I will understand if that's not.
